AC Shadows Reveals Unexpected AoT Event for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected partnership that challenges traditional predictions, Ubisoft has announced an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Disclosed
According to the formal release, "An unusual encounter draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where whispers of banned ceremonies and monstrous transformations resonate through the shadows." The narrative presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a secret cult.
The mission centers on "peculiar experiments and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Changes
The trailer showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a powerful scene showing a character, probably the captive, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Additional Content
Players who finish the mission will acquire an unique katana alongside several artifacts secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Addition
This release also introduces the game's third complimentary story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Partnerships
This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series previously featured a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
